Our History
Aziz Atiyeh, the founder of Atiyeh Bros., emigrated to America from Ottoman Syria in 1897. After working in Pennsylvania for several years, he moved to Portland, Oregon, where he saw an opportunity to establish a business in the floor covering industry. By 1900, Aziz had opened the doors to A. Atiyeh & Bro. on Washington Street in downtown Portland, and the business quickly gained popularity for its exquisite Persian rugs.
Throughout its long history, Atiyeh Bros. has received numerous awards and accolades for its superior quality and craftsmanship. From the gold medal won at the City's Lewis and Clark Exposition in 1905 to the grand prizes received at the Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition in 1909 and the Panama Pacific Exposition in 1915, our commitment to excellence has not wavered.
